Sefton Children’s Trust

Providing support and positive experiences to young people and families in Sefton

Who are we?

Sefton Children’s Trust was started in 1984 by a group of foster mothers who wanted their foster children to have the same experiences as their peers. Over the past 40 years, Sefton Children’s Trust has grown to what we see today. We take (figure) Sefton children on a week-long educational and physical residential experience to let them learn about teamwork, healthy eating, environmental sustainability and, most importantly, fun.

Who are we?

We have a dedicated team of trustees and volunteers who support the residential experience, fundraise, and make key decisions for Sefton Children’s Trust, most of our team have been involved with the charity for more than five years. We have no paid staff at Sefton Children’s Trust, so we are always looking for more committed volunteers from different backgrounds who can make an impact to the Trust.

Our Residential

Our main activity is a week long Residential during the Summer. During our summer camp, the young people have the opportunity to take part in activities such as rock climbing, kayaking, high ropes and much more. These activities push them to face their fears and grow their confidence. The social aspect of the holiday also has a huge impact, allowing them to form new friendships and build positive relationships with team leaders.

Further Support

We aim to help families at times when people are most likely to struggle. For example at Christmas we raise funds to allow us to provide families in need with Christmas food hampers and toys for their children. We host a Christmas day out where we take our families to the cinema to see one of the latest films and then to a restaurant for dinner afterwards. At Easter we endeavour to provide Easter eggs and hampers to minimise the financial difficulties that these holidays put on families.
