Who are we ?
We have NO paid staff !
ALL adults working with this charity are volunteers and are carefully vetted and fully Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) (formerly Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked prior to volunteering and in addition are mentored in working with young people and families.
More than 40 Leaders and Committee members from a variety of backgrounds volunteer their time and skills to accompany the young people on the week long residential course and activities each year.
They perform a variety of vital roles: as well as House Parents and Group Leaders, a group of ladies spends the whole of the Residential week in the local launderette ensuring that there is always fresh bedding and clean clothes. (The young people learn that muddy clothes do not matter when you have dared to crawl through the tunnels for the first time; that soap, shampoo and a hot shower can make you comfortable).
Without their commitment far fewer young people would be able to enjoy and benefit from the summer residential camp and the other activities we provide.
Throughout the year a valiant band of volunteers fund raise and manage the Trust’s resources. We always need help from like minded people to maintain and replenish these resources, as sadly, each year the number of referrals to the Trust increases
